A first goal of this summer school is to provide participants with the information needed to understand and apply MDE approaches to the development of embedded systems. For that purpose, we have gathered experts from a variety of industries to give talks that provide insights into the application of MDE to embedded systems. The summer school will also include lectures from experts in academia and industry on topics related to MDE practices and methods, and to emerging MDA technologies
The second goal of the school is to provide researchers and industrial participants an opportunity to discuss their evolving ideas and gather feedback thereon from the summer school members (lecturers and students). For that purpose, we choose a lovely and country place, and we schedule a lot of breaks, plenty of opportunities to meet and exchange with experts.
Finally, the school will be an occasion to present on-going works and have a demonstration of a number of MDE tools. A Work-in-progess session (WIP) and demo tool session are scheduled on Wednesday for such an exchange moment.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions of the MDE for DRES school were held in Sept. 2002, Sept. 2004, and Sept. 2006 respectively, in Summer on the sea-side in Brittany (France).
The proceedings of the 2nd and the 3rd editions of the school were edited by Hermes (www.iste.co.uk/index.php?isbn=9781905209323) and ISTE (www.iste.co.uk/index.php?isbn=9781905209590).
For the 4th edition, the location and the date of the school changed to become a spring school in the French Alps.
